Tibetan Prayer Flags

Dear friends,

You may have noticed a string of flags hung at the studio. Here is a brief history on them.

The Tibetan prayer flags come in five different colors each representing an element of nature: blue-sky, white-clouds, red-fire, green-water, yellow-earth. Prayers are written in a combination of Sanskrit and Tibetan script. These flags are normally hung on the highest points such as mountains, roof tops and are meant to give blessings of long life and good luck for every living being from day to day. The prayers printed on them are read and sent on their journey by the wind.
On the four corners of each flag are the names of four different animals believed to have power. They are the dragon, garuda (mythological bird), lion and tiger.

Your perception of the prayer flags may be different now that you are aware of its' history. Next time you practice meditation or come out of Savasana, why not glance at them, close your eyes and send out your prayers to the universe...

peace and namaste
